Phyterra Yeast Inc. is Functional Technologies' wholly owned subsidiary commercializing its H2S- and acrylamide-preventing yeasts in wine and other foods and beverage markets. With technical sales offices in Napa Valley, California, Phyterra's primary focus is to manage the trials and testing, and to generate commercial sales from wineries of the company's proprietary wine yeast strains. Over the last few years, the company has successfully tested its yeasts in more than 1000 fermentations, including 400 commercial trials in the U.S.A., South America and Europe, including with three of the top 10 largest wine companies in the U.S.. PHyterra is also collaborating with industry partners to apply its acrylamide-preventing yeast in a variety of food sectors.
