Phyterra Yeast Inc. is Functional Technologies' wholly owned subsidiary commercializing its H2S- and acrylamide-preventing yeasts in wine and other foods and beverage markets. With technical sales offices in Napa Valley, California, Phyterra's primary focus is to manage the trials and testing, and to generate commercial sales from wineries of the company's proprietary wine yeast strains. Over the last few years, the company has successfully tested its yeasts in more than 500 fermentations, including 75 commercial trials in California and Chile, including with three of the top 10 wineries in the U.S. PHyterra is also collaborating with industry partners to apply its acrylamide-preventing yeast in a variety of food sectors.
