| University-Industry Liaison Office (UILO) The University-Industry Liaison Office's mandate includes facilitating the creation and development of UBC spin-off companies. Since 1984, UBC has been instrumental in creating 110 spin-off companies based on University research discoveries that have attracted more than $564 million in private investment. Of the 91 spin-off companies still in existence, at least 13 have been publicly listed, creating market capital value in excess of $6.3 billion.
